Embassy Tales is the personal account of Christine Sathiah's life as the wife of a senior Malaysian diplomat, spanning 30 years and nine different countries, during which she bore witness to historical events and upheavals, including the war in Cambodia and Perestroika in the USSR.

Part memoir, part travelogue, Embassy Tales is a kaleidoscope of moments of hilarity and tragedy; good people and villains; moving encounters as well as interminably boring cocktail receptions. Throughout, Christine Sathiah casts a perceptive and sympathetic look at the foibles and idiosyncrasies of diplomatic life: its protocol strictures and absurdities; the heartaches of leaving friends behind and settling into new environments; and the challenges of navigating different international settings.

Join us at Lit Books@Bangsar Village II, 19 April at 3pm where Christine will discuss her book with Fong Min Hun to share the stories behind the stories, as well as her journey as a writer. Tickets are RM10, and participants will receive a voucher to use on event day.
