CzipLearn x Joanne Loo: Magnétfique! Magnet Making Workshop [26th September 2026]

Learn how to craft a papier-mâché magnet to inspire you everyday! In this workshop, visual artist Joanne Loo will guide you on how to combine simple materials with fun colour palettes, patterns, drawings and text to make a wonderful keepsake magnet.

This two-hour workshop has an easy-to-follow process. You will receive guidance, but feel free to experiment and have fun with the materials on-hand! Suitable for crafty beginners and seasoned artists. 

What You'll Do:
Creative Warm Up
Get to know your instructor for today, along with all the workshop tools and materials! You’ll then start to sketch out your ideas. Feeling stuck? Don’t worry, there will be some creative prompts to rev up your engines!

It’s All About The Base
Cut your base magnet shape out of cardboard, then papier-mâché your first layer! You will pick up some useful découpage tips along the way. 

Building Your Creative Palette
While the base dries, you will put together your palette. You will be guided on how to combine colours with patterns, shapes and letters, to create a composition that is cohesive and interesting.

Putting It All Together
Apply that creative palette to your magnet base! Stick, paint, draw, write. Once all the finishing touches are complete, you will assemble and varnish your masterpiece.

This workshop will be conducted in English.
